I attempted to launch the drive’s install app within beta 7 but all that happened was that I got the dock icon for the installer bouncing endlessly – long enough that I gave up. Changing text color in obs for macIf nothing works, you can start fresh if you have access to a 2nd Mac using Apple Configurator 2 and a USB-C cable, as has been throughly discussed by Mr. If I had not been successful running the update install off the usb in safe mode, my next step would have be booting to 1TR and running the bootable usb installer.I would try these steps, and at some point, if still getting the firmware verification error, I would “start over” and re-download the beta 8 installassistant.pkg and re-create the beta 8 usb installer, just to make certain that no corruption has occurred. Previously, I had tried to update using Software Update, but it would not complete, so I gave upon that and tried the usb installer route. I then was able to complete the install of beta 8. It still bounced for quite a while (but I waited patiently), and finally, the install app window appeared. While at the safe-mode desktop, I opened the installer usb and launched the beta 8 install app. Although the InstallAssistant.pkg download is 11.66 GB, when run, it creates and places “Install macOS Monterey beta” 34.8 MB in your Applications folder. Let me theorize on what is going on. Sorry you are having troubles. ![]() I ran the InstallAssistant.pkg, and as you know, this placed a 34.8 MB file (Install macOS Monterey beta.app) into my Applications folder. However, I was able to get my Beta 6 upgraded to Beta 7 using the installer, so running the “stub” worked in my circumstances: 1) I booted my internal volume installation of macOS Big Sur 11.6, then I downloaded the installer file from Mr. Macintosh’s modifications posted on Twitter allowed for creation of a bootable USB, but it produced an error, so that did not work. In any event, creating a bootable USB installer is off the table for now, and a subject for further research. Or this is really an error on Apple’s part which will be corrected with a future installer — who knows other than Apple at this point. And by the way, the “createinstallmedia” instructions are shown below:–volume, A path to a volume that can be unmounted and erased to create the install media.–nointeraction, Erase the disk pointed to by volume without prompting for confirmation.–downloadassets, Download on-demand assets that may be required for installation. Again, I was running the installer from macOS Big Sur — I had a failure when trying to update by running from Monterey Beta 6, but the process worked fine when running from Big Sur — again, I’ve had a number of errors produced with other update attempts, including trying to update using Software Update — Apple seems to still be working on getting the update process debugged. The installer proceeded to run for over an hour, and finally asked me to quit all apps and restart to proceed with the update (from Beta 6 to Beta 7).
